Davos Energy Week Startup Pitch Competition is a worldwide online startup event aiming to create a platform for startups from the energy sector to pitch their ideas to the global audience. Startups will have a chance to present their ideas to the representatives of specialized VCs and energy professionals from around the world.

The participants of the Startup Program will become part of the Online Startup Expo to show their product to the DEW’s attendees. Startup teams will also have a great networking opportunity to connect with top industry representatives.

The Prize Fund will include a direct donation from contest’s sponsors. The winning package will also include additional prizes from the partners and organizers.

Applications will be collected till 12 January 2021 from energy startups having their products ready to market.

Davos Energy Week

Davos Energy Week is a three-day event (19-21 January 2021), the main goal of which is to draw the attention of the world’s business leaders to the key issues of the energy industry It includes a series of online panels, keynotes, presentations, startup pitches and other activities enhanced by offline engagements for the participants – top managers of the energy companies, sustainability officers and activists, consultants, and international experts.

It was initially planned as a physical space on the sidelines of the world’s biggest political and economic gathering in Davos. Inasmuch as coronavirus continues to spread globally, the majority of the events that had been planned to take place in Davos have been cancelled. Regardless of what happened with those events, the need in global discussion remained. That is why bringing Davos Energy Week to a new level.

The main goals of the event are to bring together key energy players with all other businesses, to discuss key touch points between energy sector and all other businesses globally, to draw more attention of the global business community to the issues of global energy industry.

clim@ competition 2020: promoting innovative solutions to protect the climate

Combinado Consult has supported the clim@ competition 2020 as climate action ambassador.

The competition was open globally to businesses and start-ups working to scale-up market-ready concepts in the fields of sustainable energy and resource efficiency including

Key issues:

-energy efficiency

-CO2 emissions reductions and

-improved water, waste and material management

The clim@ was initiated by the Green for Growth Fund (GGF), advised by Finance in Motion, and is supported by European Union and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Applicants were competing to receive professional mentoring to develop their entry, a chance to pitch their idea to potential sponsors and investors, and a share of EUR 30,000 in prizes.

The application deadline for the startups was 16 February 2020. The selection of 5 grand finalists took place online on 2 June 2020, the day before the GGF Sustainable Future Forum in Frankfurt.

The GGF helps reduce the use of energy and resources and prevent CO2 emissions. It pursues this goal by providing dedicated financing to businesses and households across 19 markets in the Southeast Europe Region including Turkey, the European Neighborhood Region-East, and the Middle East and North Africa. By using a blended finance structure and working through local partner institutions, the GGF is able to raise awareness and implement green finance activities. About Green Plants Costa Rica Consortium

The group consists of leading enterprises producing and exporting ornamental plants from Costa Rica to the European market. Mobilizing Climate Finance

In May 2019 Combinado Consult supported, on behalf of the Renewables Academy AG (RENAC), the development of the program, concept and narrative of a GIZ study tour to Germany on “Mobilizing Climate Finance”.

At Renac’s introductory workshop for the study tour Tobias Gierling did the presentation on the topic of “Climate Investments in Germany” and accompanied the delegation to several meetings with German institutions and companies.

RENAC AG is one of the leading international providers for training and capacity building on renewable energy and energy efficiency. Capacity Building on Green Energy and Climate Finance is a central part of the program.

E-world energy & water 2019

Combinado Consult took part in E-world energy & water 2019 for customer talks, B2B marketing and startup scouting. The Startup and Science Speeddating powered by Energieloft provided the decisive platform, which was well placed alongside the joint Berlin Partner booth.

All in all, Europe’s leading trade fair for the energy industry offered an impressive insight into the future of energy supply. With 780 exhibitors from 26 nations, they presented their innovative products and services to over 25,000 trade visitors. At Messe Essen, it became clear that digitisation opens up completely new development potential for the sector. Intelligent solutions energy supply networks for entire neighbourhoods,  controlling electricity consumption  in a resource-saving manner and strengthening the electromobility infrastructure. Numerous decision-makers from politics, business and associations used the three days of E-world to exchange views on the industry’s key topics, make new contacts and gain valuable information.

Green Ventures Trade Mission Spain 2018

Combinado Consult participated in the business trip to Spain on the topic of energy, environment and innovation to initiate new business. The company and the products and services of its clients were presented to the Spanish professional public. Among the visited events and fairs during the trip were the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona and the ePower & Building in Madrid. Meetings were also held in Zaragoza, the capital of the autonomous community of Aragon.

Start Up Energy Transition Tech Festivals 2017-today

Combinado Consult is happy to be a partner of the Start Up Energy Transition Tech Festival since its first edition in 2017. We have been engaged in this annual event as reading jury member, outreach and networking partner.

Thanks to this great initiative – by the German Energy Agency (dena) in cooperation with the World Energy Council – the world’s best energy startups got the chance accessing to a global audience and investors to get on track their innovative and sustainable solutions.

About 600 applications from energy startups have been submitted each year so far from all over the world, mainly from industrialized countries, but also from several emerging economies and developing countries.

Start Up Energy Transition (SET) Tech Festival

Powered by the German Energy Agency (dena) in cooperation with the World Energy Council, Start Up Energy Transition (SET) is a leading international platform supporting innovation in energy transition.

The SET platform is comprised of the annual SET Award, SET Tech Festival and a global network of innovators. The SET Award is an international competition for start-ups and young companies worldwide who are working on ideas affecting global energy transition and climate change. Start-ups, business leaders, policymakers and investors met in Berlin to debate about the most innovative solutions to energy transition. The exhibition space hosts several accelerators who present its most promising start-ups, and the finalists of the SET award who showcase their brilliant ideas.

Matchmaking with IT and Greentech companies from Central America

In March 2018, Combinado Consult provided technical support for the organisation of the B2B matchmaking of the GIZ business delegation at the Haus der Wirtschaft in Stuttgart.

Each of the six Central American entrepreneurs from the IT and environmental technology sectors were given the opportunity to consolidate existing business contacts or establish new ones.

The entrepreneurs from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras were in Germany from 12 to 16 March 2018 and completed a comprehensive programme. Including talks with associations, technology companies, venture capital funds and start-ups in both sectors. The delegation spent the first two days in Berlin and then traveled on to Stuttgart.

Energy efficiency and renewable energies: Government delegation from Argentina visits German capital region

In February 2018 Combinado Consult supported and accompanied the agenda for the visit to Germany of the Federal Investments Councils’ (CFI) governmental delegation from the argentine province Entre Rios. Part of the agenda was the matchmaking with German companies specialized in energy efficiency and renewable energies. In addition to bilateral talks at the Argentine Embassy and the Potsdam Chamber of Industry and Commerce, we organized and accompanied  the government delegation visiting the energy self-sufficient community in Feldheim, Brandenburg.

Fruit Logistica 2018 with »Fruits from Argentine provinces«

Combinado Consult organized and conducted the business rounds with import companies and wholesalers for 10 selected fruit trading companies from Argentina at the booth of the Federal Investment Council (CFI). Around 90 business meetings were held during the three days of Fruit Logistica 2018.

Combinado Consult particpated at the business trip to Chile in November 2017 on the topic of automation technology and CHP in industry, organized by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The company was presented to the Chilean trade public and the services of the client company Etanomics and the Berlin start-up Metabuild (Ecoglobe).

Anuga 2017 with »More Than Meat« from Argentina

Combinado Consult organized and conducted the business rounds with import companies and wholesalers for 12 selected vegetarian and vegan food companies from Argentina at the booth of the Federal Council for Investments (CFI). Thanks to the activities about 100 individual business talks took place during the five days of the Anuga fair.

Study about spatial planning systems for renewable energies

What are the principles in Europe with regard to spatial planning and land use planning for renewable energies, solar energy and, above all, the installation of wind power plants? Which political structures and processes, legal rules, instruments, principles, criteria dominate the planning of renewable energy plants in different European countries – Germany, France and Denmark? Which aspects of the models could be considered by countries in Latin America?

These are key questions that we have analyzed in the framework of the comparative study on spatial planning for renewable energies in the different legal-political models also concentrating on different models of economic participation.

This study has been carried out in cooperation with Büro F, specialized in market studies on renewable energies, and FA Reitzig, lawyer specialized in administrative law.
